Salinization in freshwater ecosystems

Salinization caused by use of road decicing salts, agriculture and climate warming is a global threat for freshwater ecosystems. However, the current guidelines across the globe are not still well developed to protect these ecosystems from negative effects. We conducted a highly coordinated mesocosm experiments across North America and Europe using a regression desisgn to investigate the possible effects of chloride on freshwater zooplankton communities and trophic interactions.
